“Flying fish” by Bill Hart-French

“Working with models can be difficult sometimes” says Bill Hart-French, London-based narrative photographer. “You see I’m not interested in just shooting a woman’s naked body, I want to see them as a person as well and a lot of models hide themselves inside a protective persona. They allow you to see their body, but they won’t let you see the real person underneath. It’s perfectly understandable. They want to protect themselves. Like an actor hiding within a character. It can take a long time sometimes to see the real person coming through”.

Maku comes from Argentina but lives in London now. She is a scientist, a biologist. She sometimes models. “… and she doesn’t hide herself.  In the studio I got a real sense of her personality almost immediately, of her real self. It was a refreshing experience for a photographer”.
